In my first handful of days here, I was getting really annoyed with the Czech language. I hastily deemed it as deliberately confusing to foreigners. I struggled with getting in and out of buildings as I tried to remember the difference between the sem and tam labels on doors (literally "toward" and "away from"). How was I supposed to remember which was which? They're different by two letters!
And seriously, word pairs like this? It's a wonder I ever found my way out of my own apartment...

Then I realized that, honestly, English is just as bad:
Push/pull
Entrance/exit
What's that story about the good people of Washington D.C. changing the street names to confuse the invading British...Confederates?
Yeah, we did that on purpose. And people still can't get around that city!
So don't laugh at people who seem lost or slightly challenged in your town. They may be incredibly brilliant people in their native language ;)
My apologies, Czech Republic! It's me, not you.
